MANAGING DIRECTOR WORLD MARITIME ACADEMY
Dr. Katerina Konsta is the Managing Director of World Maritime Academy and has over 25 years of international experience in education, maritime and logistics, lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level and training business executives. She has developed maritime departments and faculties for colleges and universities and collaborations between organizations. Her writing experience includes papers, distance learning books, journal papers. She has also moderated panels at conferences and been also invited as a speaker. She has served as a reviewer for the Maritime Policy & Management Journal, an Examiner for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in London and is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering.
Education and training without experience have no value for her, which explains why she has always undertaken consulting projects. Currently, the consulting offered focuses on shipping and logistics, training, human resources, sustainability, distribution, warehousing, procurement for 3PL companies.
Katerina obtained her PhD from the University of Plymouth, entitled “Maritime Policy and the Success of Nations: The Case of Greek Shipping”. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Maritime Business and Maritime Law from the University of Plymouth (UK) and a diploma in Business & Finance from North Hertfordshire College (UK). Her postgraduate studies include: International Shipping from the University of Plymouth (UK) and Maritime Studies with International Transport from the University of Piraeus (Greece). She has also obtained University-level teaching qualifications from the University of Plymouth (UK).
Katerina is a member of the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) and served as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of WISTA International, a member of the International Maritime Lecturers' Association (IMLA), the Association of Greek Women Scientists, LeanIn and the Chios Maritime Club. She is an Ambassador for the University of Plymouth and Head of the maritime alumni organization PYNDA.
