Rear Admiral (retd) Vasilis Politis graduated in 1983 from the Naval Academy with the rank of Ensign and in 1987 as a Helicopter Pilot from the Army Aviation Academy. He is a graduate of the Hellenic Navy War College (HNWC). He has studied International Relations at Salve Regina University, Rhodes Island, U.S.A. and holds postgraduate degrees from the universities of Plymouth, U.K. and the U.S. War College. He is a member of the NATO Committee dealing with Merchant Shipping issues. He is a member of N.O.E, a member of EL.I.S.M.E, a member of SK.O.E, a member of N.E.E, a member of the International Association Hostage Negotiation (I.A.H.N.), a former member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (E.O.T.), a member of the Hellenic Aviation Academy (A.A.K.E), a member of the Maritime Chapter of AHEPANS and a member of the Association of Greek Marinas (E.M.A.E). He has written extensively and is a regular radio and television commentator. He is President and CEO of M.S.I. Hellas, Vice President of Hellenic Seas Yachts and President of Marina Pedi in Symi.
